2020 mid-year book freak-out: completed goodreads challenge & contemporary cuteness and crying7/20/2020 75 books in less than 7 months. yeah, if you had told me i was going to do that at the beginning of the year, i probably would've laughed at you so hard. but, as i'm sure we've all experienced, this year's been particularly weird (and awful) and we're all just trying to deal with it however we can. reading has been my main coping mechanism as i embrace the free time i have, what with lockdown restrictions and grad school coming up in just about a month now (nope, not freaking out at all). i'm sure that's been the case for a lot of people. at the beginning of the year, i introduced a lot of friends and family to goodreads and reading challenges, and as the year turned for the worse and we all shuffled indoors, i began to see more and more of those same people plowing through their challenges. not to be a dork, but i can't help but message them with some sort of celebration emoji — people are reading!
it somehow still came as a surprise to everyone (including yours truly) that i finished my challenge earlier this month. i stopped paying attention to numbers a while ago when i realised that, at the rate i was reading, i had to be finished with my challenge by the first half of the year. so when i finally completed my 75th book for the year (a disappointment, i might add), i thought i'd celebrate, too. i'm reading! creating content for youtube has always been at the back of my mind, and despite having the equipment and creative gusto for making some bookish videos, i'm still a little too insecure and self-critical to get myself on there. for now, please enjoy the text version of my 2020 mid-year book freak-out, completed goodreads challenge edition.
for the second half of 2020, i don't expect a lot. like i mentioned earlier, i'm starting grad school in about a month, and assuredly things are about to get quite crazy. but i'll still make time to read, and hopefully i'll have more good reads during the rest of the year! sorry again, this turned out to be a lot longer than intended (and you can definitely tell where i started getting fatigued). if you read this far, thank you so much for sticking around, and i hope one of these wacky descriptions intrigues you enough to add it to your TBR!
